When ice cream trucks spring up around every corner, lemonade tastes like salvation and the weather forecasts agree that we’re in paradise, that’s when travel season is in bloom.  Since Poland is not a seaside heaven like Spain, it’s not your typical go-to travel destination for summer. It’s high time we changed that because summer in Poland tastes like a dream, and leaves you struck like a good shot of vodka! While there are plenty of places worth visiting, starting with the capital city – Warsaw – seems like a good idea! I’ve been living in Warsaw for quite a time, and I need to admit that summer in Warsaw is entertaining, interesting, and packed up with activities! Let’s kick off the summer… in the Warsovian style!

Along the Vistula river, where the wind still sings old songs, and poppies bloom in the brightest shade of red, there’s a country called Poland. It is full of majestic mountains, mysterious valleys, medieval cities and magical lakes. It’s the country I was born in, and the country that’s worth visiting any time of the year! While there are no exotic beaches, ancient temples or famous holiday resorts here, Poland allures with a different kind of charm. It is the charm of old forests, colorful folk dresses, the stormy sea, and filling potato-based dishes. Since this is the place I have been living in the longest, let me guide you through Poland! We will visit several different places, indulge in too many dishes, and learn how to survive and thrive in Poland. Let’s explore Poland in the Blumil style together!

In numerous Polish cities, history lives in every corner. Medieval squares, modern buildings, baroque palaces, gloomy castles – you can find it all in Poland! While exploring the entire country in 7 days is hardly possible, you can easily have your taste of Poland in a week and savor everything it has to offer! Once upon a time, in the times when legends were very alive, the mermaid told people “here you will build a marvelous city” and indeed, they did. The capital city of Poland is vibrant and modern and it has mastered the art of reinvention. It rose up from ashes like a phoenix and learned to combine modernity with history. Tall skyscrapers and old buildings, the few which survived the war, stand proudly next to each other. In Warsaw, you can learn a lot about reinvention and enjoy yourself like there is no tomorrow.
