Every master was once a beginner and mastering the art of accessible traveling is not an easy task.  It requires patience, a fair amount of planning and… time! Think about it as if it was a game: each level teaches you new skills necessary for survival. Starting the game from level 99 could lead to great disappointment and even bigger discouragement because you don’t have enough experience yet. The same rule applies to accessible traveling: it’s simply a safe bet to visit accessible cities first and as your traveling experience grows, move onto more challenging places. Since the accessible world is the future, but still not reality, I decided to create a list of the 5 best places for beginner wheelchair travelers! More about it below…

Traveling diaries: Berlin rediscovered

Sometimes I fall in love with cities at first sight. Boom, the first time I set my eyes on the streets, I know they will take my breath away. Sometimes, though, I am not quite as amazed. Relaxed? Liking the place? Yes! Blown away? Not really. It’s natural to like some cities more than others, but discovering magic in something you’ve deemed “regular” feels absolutely amazing. Berlin’s vibe didn’t really capture my heart when I saw it years ago, but I was left surprised and impressed with this city, once I gave it one more chance. I attended IFA – Consumer Electronics Fair – this September and had a chance to explore Berlin again. It turned out that first impressions aren’t everything, after all! Below I’ll show you around Berlin I liked so much – vibrant and racing towards the future.

Breathing the history in and out is inevitable when you visit Berlin. At first sight, the city seems to be a chronicle of the tragic and the ugly, the divided and the hurt, but that’s just one face of Berlin. It is a place full of variety, pulsing with life, and it showcases a thousand years of German coming into fusion with modernity. Clean streets and great accessibility should make it one of my favourite destinations, but Berlin has never made it to my top 5 list. Everything about it screams “Top notch quality!” but the city doesn’t have “the spark” for me. I can appreciate its flavour, but I would never choose it over cities like Barcelona, Hong Kong or Rio de Janeiro. It still makes a nice travel story to tell, so bear with me. What to do in Berlin?
